Rangers look to regain momentum in second of back to back afternoon games

Coming off a lackluster showing in Philadelphia in which the Rangers could not gain any footing against the desperate Philadelphia Flyers in 4-0 loss the Rangers look to continue their home luck and get their 8th straight win at MSG this afternoon against the Capitals.

As of yesterday Henrik Lundqvist was slated to get the start today but with the loss we may see backup Alexandar Georgiev get the start after his shutout win over the Islanders last Thursday.

Yesterday saw the return of Mats Zuccarello from a 3 game abscence due to a groin injury. Forward Tim Gettinger was recalled yesterday from Hartford of the AHL. If Gettinger makes his debut will be decided after today's optional morning skate at MSG.

Led by Alex Ovechkin the Capitals come into today's contest having won 4 of their last 5 games, 6 of their last 10 and are riding a 4 game winning streak. Their most recent win coming yesterday, 3-1 over the Detroit Red Wings.

This is the second of four games between the Rangers and Capitals this season and the first at the Garden. In their previous meetings the Rangers took the loss 4-3. Henrik Lundqvist suffered the loss while Mika Zibanejad scored and Chris Kreider and Jimmy Vesey tallied power play goals.
