RANGERS AND SENATORS FACEOFF IN SECOND OF HOME AND HOME

New York Rangers (13-10-2) vs Ottawa Senators (10-11-3)

Tonight the Rangers will be facing the Ottawa Senators on their home ice after a 4-2 win on Monday night at MSG. The Rangers have been off since the win while Ottawa traveled to Philadelphia on Tuesday and picked up a 4-3 win over the Flyers to snap a 4 game losing streak. The Rangers will be looking to snap a 2 game road losing streak, their last 3 games away from MSG were to all Metropolitan Division rivals,  in Philadelphia, a 4-0 loss, in Brooklyn a 7-5 loss and in Columbus a 5-4 win over the Blue Jackets their last road victory.

The Rangers looking more like a wound care center were already without forwards Mats Zuccarello, Pavel Buchnevich, Cody McLeod and defenseman Adam McQuaid will now be without forward Vladislav Namestnikov after an awkward hit at center ice on Monday against the same Senators from Thomas Chabot which has resulted in Namestnikov being kept out of the lineup due to concussion protocol.

The Rangers announced on Wednesday that both Namestnikov and Zuccarello who has been out with a tweak groin for the last 7 out of 8 games will not make the Rangers road trip to both Ottawa tonight and Montreal tomorrow to face the Canadiens.

As of now the Rangers are left with 11 forwards and 7 defensemen unless a call up is made today before game time from Hartford. With both Tim Gettinger and Steven Fogarty brought up from the Wolf Pack last week to replace Buchnevich and McLeod the Rangers have limited cap space of  $1,641,982 open for a recall according to cap friendly.

Forward Matt Beleskey who made a hard push to make the opening night roster before suffering a separated shoulder in preseason would not be an option even if Namestnikov and McLeod were added to the LTIR. Beleskey currently is a minor league cap hit of $875,000 but has an NHL hit of $3,800,000 if he is on the main roster.

One of the young Wolf Pack Forwards would be the Rangers only options possibly being Vinni Lettieri who was recently demoted or Boo Nieves who was close to making this seasons roster before suffering a concussion in Rangers preseason. Lettieri has more NHL experience so he would most likely be the one promoted.

Henrik Lundqvist 9-7-2 is expected to get the start tonight on Ottawa after a 29 save win against the Sens on Monday.

Ottawa comes in tonight's game ending their 4 game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Flyers on Tuesday in Philly. Brady Tkachuk scored twice in the third period and Matt Duchene scored the eventual winner with 2:59 left in regulation.
