NYR TODAY SAT 6/25: Draft Day 1, Alumni Birthdays, TDINYRH

NYR DRAFT DAY RUMBLINGS
@RNYRF Staff Report
A Quiet Frustrating Day for Rangers Fans Indeed
Although the Rangers were without a pick in the first round it was said that GM Jeff Gorton was extremely busy working on deals to lower the team's Salary Cap. Once again both Derek Stepan and Rick Nash (who was confirmed as tendering his NTC list) were the talk early on in trade rumors. Later in the day both Dan Girardi and Marc Staal were being shopped around by the second year Rangers GM. If Gorton can move one of the two defenseman who both have an no move clause it would be a serious drop in cap space. Look for the Rangers to once again be busy on Day 2 as they will have a pick in the draft to start round 3 at number 81. The Rangers will have 5 more picks afterwards barring any trades at numbers 98, 141, 171, 174 and 201. Rounds 2 through 7 resume today at 10:00 AM EST.
