Rangers Announce 2016-17 Schedule
The Rangers will open their regular season schedule at home for the first time since the 2007-08 season and for the 25th time in franchise history. In addition, the Blueshirts are playing their season opener against the Islanders for only the second time in franchise history (the first time was in 1997-98; 2-2 tie on Oct. 3, 1997 at MSG).
The Rangers will play a total of 30 games against Metropolitan Division opponents this season. The Blueshirts will face Columbus and Pittsburgh five times each and will play four games apiece against Carolina, New Jersey, the NY Islanders, Philadelphia, and Washington. New York will play three games against each of its eight Atlantic Division opponents and will also face off against each Western Conference team twice in 2016-17.
The Blueshirts’ longest homestand of the 2016-17 season is four games from Feb. 5, 2017 vs. Calgary to Feb. 11, 2017 vs. Colorado. The Blueshirts will play more home games in November and February (eight home games in each month) than in any other month during the season. In addition, the Rangers will play more road games in March (10) than in any other month this season. The Blueshirts’ schedule once again features a heavy concentration of Sunday home games with 12.
