NYR WEEK IN REVIEW: Kreider, Yandle, Nash, Stepan
@RNYRF Staff Report
Rangers have not yet spoken to Chris Kreider about a contract extension as he reaches RFA Status. Pending UFA Keith Yandle has not been contacted by the Rangers either as it seems the team will need to clear up cap space just to be able to make an offer to some have said is the top defenseman on the market this off season.
As far as trade rumors surrounding the Rangers, Rick Nash and Derek Stepan have once again surfaced as the top names that might be moved sometime this summer. Nash has been said to have been asked for his list of NTC teams. Buffalo, Detroit and St Louis are the teams rumored to have strong interest in obtaining Nash.
As far as Stepan it's seems more than just rumors as league sources have stated that GM Jeff Gorton is "busy working the phones"as calls from numerous teams about Stepan's availability have been coming in. Earlier in the last few months Minnesota was the team rumored to be hot on the trail for Step. It would seem that it just might be an interesting off season for the Rangers and the direction the team might be heading.
