RANGERS SWEEP ROAD TRIP WITH 3-2 WIN IN EDMONTON

GEORGIEV EARNS FIRST NHL WIN

The Rangers got off to a quick start tonight in Edmonton when Chris Kreider scored his first goal since returning from a blood clot just 54 seconds into the opening period. The Rangers held the lead going into the second.

Connor McDavid tied the game 1-1 in the second until Mika Zibanejad tallied a power play goal to put the Rangers back ahead 2-1 and Paul Carey with a deflection off Cody McLeod's shot made it 3-1. in favor of New York. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins added a goal for the Oilers off a feed from McDavid to bring them within one goal.

The Rangers although mostly outplayed in the third period were able to stave off Edmonton for the win and the Road Trip Sweep. The Rangers are now actually 3 points away from a playoff spot.

Alexandar Georgiev became the first Bulgarian Born Goaltender in NHL History to post a win and is the first goaltender of Russian heritage to collect a win for the Rangers in franchise history.
