RANGERS COMEBACK FALLS SHORT IN TAMPA 5-3

SPOONER CONTINUES TO IMPRESS WITH GOAL, TWO ASSISTS

The first period pretty much summed up the pace of the game as the Rangers were outscored 2-0 and outshot 21-5 through the first 20 minutes. Henrik Lundqvist stood on his head for most of the game but was pulled after getting caught behind the net for Tampa's 4th goal of the game. Lundqvist with 27 saves retreated once again to the locker room in anger as rookie netminder Alexandar Georgiev was called in as replacement.

The Rangers tried to mount a comeback with goals from Ryan Spooner, Mats Zuccarello and Kevin Hayes but time wound down and so did the Rangers chances of pulling one out.

Ryan Spooner who was acquired at the deadline for Rick Nash picked up his 2nd goal as a Ranger and added another 2 assists to his short tenure in New York. Kevin Hayes continues to be hot picking up his 19th of the season.

The Rangers had a scare in the first period as Chris Kreider who just returned form injury was sent to the locker room after taking a hit to the head. After just 2:23 of ice time Kreider was left out for precautionary measures but was said to have passed all tests.

The Rangers now head across state to face the Panthers in nrise on Saturday before heading home to take on Carolina Monday.
