‎NYR‬ MORNING SKATE REPORT 1/8

NYR saying expect a transaction with Emerson Etem later today. He's not at practice right now.

NYR at practice: Miller-Brass-Zucc Nash-Step-Megna Lindberg-Hayes-Fast Glass-Moore-Stalberg; McD-G Staal-Boyle Yandle-Klein (Kreid-McIrath)

Chris Kreider skating as an extra d-man with Dylan McIlrath. So, maybe not tomorrow for return from right hand laceration.

Via Adam Rotter SNY: There are a couple of potential transactions with Etem. He could be traded, sent to Hartford on a conditioning stint or possibly loaned to a team in Europe which would take him off the roster but allow the Rangers to keep his rights.

In general, Etem has been a bit of a disappointment since coming over in the Hagelin trade. He started slow in training camp, was scratched for a while, got in a few games, played a few good ones, but overall he has been inconsistent. He has the talent to be a player, maybe even a top-six player, but he isn't showing that on the ice.

While Etem was thought to be a pretty nice get for Carl Hagelin, young/cheap player with upside, the bigger part of that trade was getting the second round pick and taking Ryan Gropp. Hopefully Gropp works out much more so than Etem has.

Alain Vigneault says Emerson Etem has been assigned to AHL for conditioning
