TODAY IN NYR HISTORY January 17:
 1965: Camille Henry recorded a hat trick and Phil Goyette notched an assist on all three of Henry’s goals as the Rangers defeated the Detroit Red Wings, 4-2, in Detroit.


1969: Emile Francise begins his second stint as head coach of the Rangers.

 1979 – The Rangers registered five consecutive goals to defeat the New York Islanders, 5-3, at MSG. Ron Greschner, Ulf Nilsson, Ron Duguay, Mike McEwen, and Anders Hedberg each tallied a goal, and Phil Esposito recorded his 800th career NHL assist.

With the shootout win over the Philadelphia Flyers, Henrik Lundqvist becomes the first goaltender in NHL history to earn at least 20 wins in each of his first 11 seasons! Lundqvist also established a new NYR record for the most 20-win seasons in franchise history.
