The Explanation of why Emerson Etem Traded:
Jeff Gorton said on Friday that Emerson Etem wasn't able to gain any traction with the Rangers after his tough training camp and start.
He said that they were trying to find the right fit for him going back to training camp and were struggling to do so.
Gorton said that he felt it "was best for us to get him another spot to go to and for us to get a player we liked and has a future."
Alain Vigneault said that Etem "didn't have the best training camp" and that based strictly on performance he shouldn't have made the team to start the season. (Daily New
Vigneault said that the Rangers management and scouts felt that Etem had some potential but "for whatever reason it didn't work."
He added that he felt Etem was given a fair look and "got a fair amount of ice time for the performance he was putting out."
Etem, while speaking in Vancouver, said that he has shown flashes as a player but that his work ethic has "dwindled a little bit here and there" and that has produced inconsistency.
