NYR TODAY SUNDAY FEBRUARY 7

Rangers vs Flyers Post Game Notes 2/6
@RNYRF Staff Report
Rangers Defenseman Kevin Klein returned to the lineup yesterday in Philadelphia sporting a splint on his fracture right thumb. Rick Nash missed his 5th game in a row with a "Bad" Bone Bruise to his left leg, no timetable for his return has been set.
RANGERS DEFEAT FLYERS IN SHOOTOUT
Midway through the first period Rangers Captain Ryan McDonagh and Flyers Wayne Simmonds tangled along the boards by the Rangers bench. Simmonds threw a "Sucker Punch" and caught McDonagh on the jaw, McDonagh hit the ice and was slow to get back up with the help of Rangers Trainer Jim Ramsay. McDonagh wound up leaving the game and not returning for the remainder. Simmonds received a match penalty, five minutes and an ejection, because of intent to injure. McDonagh was penalized for high-sticking and slashing. Flyers expect the NHL will recind the match penalty and no further disciplinary action will be taken. Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said McDonagh would be re-evaluated on Sunday. Simmonds turned down reporters' request for comment.

Nearing the halfway point of the second period after 4 straight man advantages given up by the Rangers, Flyers Shayne Gostisbehere scored a power play goal on a screened slap shot past Henrik Lundqvist to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead. The Rangers tied the game early in the third period when Chris Kreider deflected his 11th goal of the season into the cage at 3:16 with Girardi and Mats Zuccarello earning the assists. Just under 3 minutes later after a missed scoring chance by the Rangers, Flyers  Ryan White beat Lundqvist short side giving Philly the lead 2-1. With just :12.98 seconds left in regulation Rangers Defenseman Keith Yandle blasted a one-timer past Steve Mason tying the game and sending it into overtime. Both the Rangers and Flyers failed to score during the 3 on 3 5 minute period before heading to the shootout round. The Rangers won the contest with goals in the first and second rounds of the shootout by Mats Zuccarello on a beautiful "Juke" around Mason and the eventual game winner by Derek Stepan. Henrik Lundqvist blanked the Flyers in both rounds denying both Flyers shooters Sam Gagner and Claude Giroux. Lundqvist finished the night with 26 saves out of 28 shots on goal. The Rangers also registered 28 shots on goal in the contest.

The Rangers return to action on Monday vs the New Jersey Devils at Madison Square Garden at 7:00 PM
