NYR TODAY TUESDAY 2/23

NEW YORK RANGERS GAME DAY

NEW YORK RANGERS (34-19-6) at NEW JERSEY DEVILS (29-24-7)

TONIGHT 7:00 PM, MSG,MSG+

Season series: Lee Stempniak's finish off a 2-on-1 break with Adam Henrique at 3:07 of overtime gave the New Jersey Devils a 2-1 win against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 18. David Schlemko scored a power-play goal with 8:46 left in the Devils' 3-2 victory at Prudential Center on Feb. 2. The Rangers earned a 2-1 win on Feb. 8 at the Garden behind Henrik Lundqvist's 27 saves.

Rangers team scope: Defenseman Ryan McDonagh (jaw/neck) skated on his own following practice Monday. He won't play Tuesday, but will travel to St. Louis and Dallas later this week. "I've been continuing to feel like myself more and more," McDonagh told BlueshirtsUnited.com. "Hopefully it continues here and I can get back soon. I'm grateful it was not another concussion." Forward Rick Nash (bone bruise) worked out in the gym Monday and is "on the right track," said coach Alain Vigneault. The Rangers practiced with the same lines used in their 1-0 overtime win against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. They're 7-1-1 in their past nine games and nine points ahead of the Devils in the Metropolitan Division. "At this time of year we're all desperate for points," forward Derick Brassard told Newsday. "They're outside looking in at the [Stanley Cup Playoffs]; at the end of the day, it's the intensity that's going to make the difference."
