Today in NYR History 12/9:


1971 - The 'G-A-G Line' registers six points vs Flyers. 
Jean Ratelle tallied three points (one goal, two assists), Vic Hadfield recorded two goals, and Gilles Villemure stopped all 21 shots he faced as the Rangers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-0, in Philadelphia.


1985: The Rangers acquire Roland Melanson from the Minnesota North Stars in exchange for the 1986 2nd round pick (#30-Neil Wilkinson)  and the 1987 4th round pick (#73-John Weisbrod).


1985: The Rangers acquire Brian MacLellan and the 1987 4th round pick (#69-Mike Sullivan) from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Grant Ledyard and Roland Melanson.


1988: The Rangers acquire Mark Hardy from the Minnestota North Stars in exchange for Larry Bernard and the 1989 5th round pick (#97-Rhys Hollyman).


1992: The Rangers win their first game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. 
The Rangers take the win 6-5 in a neutral site game in Miami.


2017: Henrik Lundqvist earns his 419th NHL win when the New York Rangers defeat the New Jersey Devils 5-2 at Madison Square Garden. 
Lundqvist passes Hockey Hall of Famer Tony Esposito (418 with the Chicago Blackhawks) for the second-most wins by a goalie with one franchise in NHL history.
