1926: The Rangers play the Detroit Red Wings franchise for the first time, falling to the Detroit Cougars, 1-0.


1988: Guy Lafleur, matches an NHL career high with four assists in a single game in a 10-6 loss to the Oilers in Edmonton.


1995: Mark Messier becomes the seventh player in NHL history to reach 1,400 points. 
Messier records a goal and two assists as the Rangers defeat the Anaheim Mighty Ducks for the first time in franchise history, 5-1, at MSG.
