NEW YORK RANGERS POST GAME REPORT

Five Different Rangers Score in 5-2 Victory over Winnipeg

The New York Rangers kept up their phenomenal second period scoring tonight with four in the period.

Although the Rnagers took the lead early in the first 2 minutes of the first period on a goal by Kevin Hayes the team seemed sluggish from the middle of the period until the halfway mark of the second.

Heading into the second tied at one the Rangers tallied four goals in the period. Mats Zuccarello scored at the ten minute mark putting the Rangers up 2-1 until Winnipeg struck back just two minutes later and tied the game at 2. J.T. Miller scored the game winner shortly after, his 5th of the season and his team leading 13th point. Jesper Fast and Pavel Bucnevich added the 4th and5th goals of the game before the end of the period.

In the third period the Rangers turned on the defense and only picked up one shot on goal for their efforts. The Rangers Defense looked strong holding the Jets to 10 shots on goal despite being on the penalty kill twice, pushing Winnipeg to the side boards and keeping them away from the slot.

Goaltender Herik Lundqvist looked spectacular at times making tough from in close saves, he finished with 26 saves on the night.

The 5 goals scored tonight is the first time Rangers have scored five or more goals in at least five straight games since 12/26/78 to 1/14/79 (nine games).

The Rangers 10 wins in 13 games this season is tied for the most in the first 13 games of one season in franchise history. They are plus-26 in goal differential, which is the best over the first 13 games of a season in franchise history.

The Rangers return to action on Tuesday 11/8 at 7:00 PM when they host the Vancouver Canucks at MSG before heading on a West Coast swing ending next Sunday when they return home to face the Florida Panthers.
