NYR TODAY Thurs. 11/10: Today in NYR History

Today in NYR History November 10:

1942: The New York Rangers score twice during a 10-minute overtime to defeat Chicago 5-3 at Madison Square Garden. It's the final regular-season game decided in OT for 41 years. When regular-season overtime is revived for the 1983-84 season, it's brought back as a five-minute, sudden-death period rather than the earlier format of having the teams play a full 10-minute extra period.

1979: In the Rangers’ first meeting with the Quebec Nordiques, the Blueshirts win, 5-4, at MSG.

2009: Brian Leetch is inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

2015: Henrik Lundqvist becomes the franchise leader in saves (19,405) and appearances (743).
