SNAP 4 GAME LOSING SKID

The Rangers started off the game with two rookies in the lineup tonight. Neal Pionk recalled yesterday to replace the waived Brendan Smith and John Gilmour recalled today to replace the injured Ryan McDonagh who was announced to have an upper body injury. McDonagh willmiss the Rangers upcoming road trip with a nagging injury suffred against San Jose.

Already without McDonagh the Rangers might have lost backup Ondrej Pavelec who left the game at the end of the first period with a knee injury. Henrk Lundqvist replaced Pavelec to start the second and picked up the win. Lundqvist stopped 28 of 30 shots on goal while Pavelec stopped 7 of 8. Lundqvist pretty much stood on his head in the third to keep the Rangers within reach and then held off the Flames in the final minutes.

Mika Zibanejad scored the game winner on the power play to make the game 4-3 in favor of the Rangers after they had gone done 3-2 inthe second period. Kevin Hayes opened the scoring for New York with a power play goal of his own, Michael Grabner scored the goal to tie the game 2-2 in the second and Rick Nash picked up a goal to make it 3-3 before Zibanejad's winner.
