Today in NYR History 11/5:



1939: Frank Boucher makes his head coaching debut, becoming the second bench boss in Rangers history.


1981: New York's Ron Duguay scored a natural hat trick (including his 100th NHL goal and his 4th career hat trick) and added an assist, as the Rangers beat the Flyers 6-2 at Philadelphia.



1992: The Rangers trade Dave Archibald to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for the 1993 NHL Entry Draft 5th round pick (#105-Frederick Beaubien).



2002: Mike Richter plays his final NHL game. 
Richter makes 39 saves in a 5-2 Rangers victory over the Edmonton Oilers at MSG. He retires as the Rangers’ all-time leader in wins and games played. 



2005: The Rangers win their first shootout, defeating the New Jersey Devils, 3-2, at MSG. 
Kevin Weekes stops three of the four shooters he faces, and rookie Petr Prucha scores the winner in the fourth round of the shootout.
