CROSSTOWN RIVALRY RENEWS TONIGHT IN BROOKLYN

New York Rangers (9-7-2) vs New York Islanders (9-6-2)

Both teams come into tonight's meeting having beaten the Vancouver Canucks in their last games. The Rangers extended their point streak to seven games Monday, beating the Canucks 2-1. The Islanders then snapped a three-game losing streak Tuesday by defeating Vancouver 5-2. The wins left the crosstown rivals tied for second place in the Metropolitan Division.

Henrik Lundqvist and Thomas Greiss, both who earned the win over the Canucks this week, are expected to get the starts tonight. Lundqvist made 25 saves against Vancouver on Monday, recording the 437th victory of his career to move into a tie for seventh-place on the NHL's all-time wins list with Jacques Plante. Greiss made 22 saves in Tuesday's win.

Lundqvist is 30-20-7 in 59 career appearances against the Islanders while Greiss is 3-0-1 in five games against the Rangers.

This is the first meeting of four between the Rangers and Islanders this season splitting two games each at MSG and the Barclays Center. Last season the Islanders dominated the season series 3-0-1 with the Rangers earning 1 point in the shootout loss to start the series in October of 2017.
