Rangers a No Show in Thanksgiving Showdown

Blanked by Pickard and Flyers 4-0 in Philly

The Flyers were just a bit more hungry after the Thanksgiving Holiday as they looked to end a four game losing streak to the surging New York Rangers.

Sean Couturier picked up a hat trick in the contest, the first coming in the opening period when his shot towards the net was saved by Henrik Lundqvist but the rebound deflected in off of Brady Skjei as he was defending the approaching Flyers threat for a goal that would last until just under 5 minutes remaining to play.

Henrik Lundqvist shined in the defeat stopping 40 of 43 shots, keeping the Rangers one goal short of a tie for most of the game while time after time the Rangers struggled to get offensive time in the Flyers zone. Cal Pickard was able to turn away the Rangers chances with 31 saves on the night.

As the teams reached the final five minutes the Rangers defense finally collapsed allowing 2 goals from Couturier and an empty net tally from Jordan Weal.

The loss was the Rangers 2nd in their last 12 games dropping the record to 10-2-1 and giving them their 9th loss of the season and 2nd on the road in the last 2 games.
