RANGERS HEAD INTO BOSTON FOR SECOND OF BACK TO BACK GAMES
New York Rangers (17-12-3) vs Boston Bruins (15-10-4)
TODAY 5:00 PM, TV: MSG2, NESN Radio: WEPN 98.7
TD Bank Gardens, Boston, MA
Coming off a 4-2 win over the West leading Los Angeles Kings the Rangers head into Boston to meet the Bruins in the second of a back to back game weekend. This is the second meeting of three this season against the Bruins and the only stop at the TD Garden in Boston before ending the series back at MSG in February.
The Rangers defeated Boston at MSG back on November 8 by the score of 4-2. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 33 of 35 shots on goal while Jimmy Vesey (2 goals), Pavel Buchnevich and Rick Nash led the way with tallies.
The possible goaltending matchup should see Lundqvist who made 33 saves in last night’s win over the Kings get the start against Boston while Tuukka Rask will face New York for Boston.
The Rangers will once again be without number one center Mika Zibanejad who has been skating as an extra in practice but has not yet been cleared for contact drills due to concussion symptoms.
The Bruins come into tonight’s contest on a three day rest having last played in a 5-3 loss to Washington on Wednesday. The Bruins have a record of 3-2 in the last 5 games.
