RANGERS FALL 3-2 TO DESPERATE SENS
A better showing than they had against Dallas Monday Night but the Rangers could not overcome a desperate Senators who had lost their last 5 games straight.
Giving up the lead early in the first period the Rangers were on their heels once again tying the game once and giving up the lead once again.
The crippling blow was a gol by Ottawa right off the 3rd period faceoff just 8 seconds in. With both defensemen Brady Skjei and Kevin Shattenkirk caught behind the Rangers net Ottawas Zack Smith was left alone out in front to put one past Henrik Lundqvist.
Pavel Buchnevich off a beutiful feed from Dvid Desharnais and Chris Kreider was able to cut the lead 3-2 but Ottawa and goaltender Craig Anderson were able to buckle down and hold off the Rangers for the remaining 15 plus minutes.
Michael Grabner scored the first Rangers goal. Grbner leads the team in goals with 15 and the NHL in even strentgh goals on the season.
