LUNDQVIST, CAREY HELP DOWN DUCKS 4-1

39 saves from Henrik Lundqvist and a 2 goal night from fourth line winger Paul Carey helped the Rangers to a 4-1 win over the visiting Anaheim Ducks.

Geared by beautiful playmaking by center David Desharnais, Carey was set up for 2 goals tonight in the first and second periods. Carey was robbed in the third by Ducks goaltender John Gibson on what would have been the 3rd goal for the hat trick.

Lundqvist who had previously stopped 33 shots on goal in each back to back games last weekend was spectacular once again only allowing one goal on 40 shots tonight to Ondřej Kaše almost 15 minutes into the final period.

The win was Lundqvist’s 422nd putting him 1 win behind Tony Esposito for 8t place on the all time wins list.

Kevin Hayes picked up a second period goal to put the Rangers up 3-1 in the second period and Michael Grabner was awarded a goal in the third period after a lengthy video review to put the game away for New York.

Grabner’s goal was his team leading number 17.

Mats Zuccarello picked up an assist on Hayes goal to extend his team leading assists to 20 and his team leading points to 28. Zuccarello has average a point per game in his last 17 games played.

Nick Holden picked up career points 100 & 101 on assists to Carey’s 2 goals.
