RANGERS AT DUCKS POST GAME WRAP UP 1/23

RANGERS DROP 3RD STRAIGHT ROAD GAME

DEFEATED BY ANAHEIM 6-3

Despite 44 shots on goal the Rangers could only get 3 goals past the Ducks Netminder Josh Gibson. Rick Nash had another 2 goal game with a power play goal and one at even strength. Michael Grabner picked up his 21st of the season after Mika Zibanejad forced a turnover at center ice and launched Grabner in on Gibson for the breakaway goal.

Henrik Lundqvist had a poor outing giving up 3 goals on 6 shots in the first period, Ondrej Pavelec came in relief of Lundqvist but was beat on his first save attempt when JT Miller turned over the puck at center ice leading to a shorthanded breakaway. Miller rode the pine for the rest of the game after the giveaway, obviously in the coach's doghouse.

Although the Rangers came within a goal of tying the game twice, small individual mistakes were the undoing of the team. The Rangers are now on the outside looking in a Philadelphia picked up a win giving them a 3 point lead over New York while Pittsburgh jumped ahead of the Rangers into the second and final wild card spot.
