The Rangers make their first trip to Las Vegas tonight to take on the Golden Knights. This will be the second of two regular season meetings between the two teams. The Rangers took the first contest at Madison Square Garden by the score of 6-4 back on Halloween. In the matchup the Rangers battled back from a 2-1 deficit with two power play goals to win it in the 3rd period on goals by Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider. Zibanejad finished the game with two goals on the night while Mats Zuccarello who opened up the scoring, Pavel Buchnevich and Michael Grabner rounded out the Rangers tallies. Henrik lundqvist stopped 30 of 34 shots on goal for the win.

The Rangers come into tonight’s game after a 2-1 shootout win over the Arizona Coyotes, a game in which the Rangers failed on puck possession and allowed too many turnovers. Henrik Lundqvist once again shined in the win besting former teammate Antti Raanta with 38 saves on 39 shots and stopping all 3 Arizona shootout attempts including former Rangers Anthony Duclair and Derek Stepan. Mika Zibanejad scored the lone shootout goal for the Rangers in the first round for the win.

The red hot Golden Knights are coming in off a 5-4 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday after losing their first game in nine contests to the St Louis Blues on Thursday 2-1 to end their winning streak at 8 games.

Vegas currently sits in first place in the Pacific Division while the Rangers moved into third place in the Metropolitan Division ahead of the Columbus Blue Jackets after last night’s win.

No word on the Rangers lineup for tonight’s game in which Mats Zuccarello was a late scratch due to being “under the weather”.
