RANGERS HOLD ON TO WIN IN 6-5 BARNBURNER

Kevi Hayes returned to the Rangers tonight after missing 6 games with a lower body injury and he made a difference right away. First scoring the game's opening goal to give the Rangers the lead and then adding an assist on a beautiful cross crease pass to captain Ryan McDonagh to give Mac his first goal of the season. McDonagh would cash in again just over a minute later on the power play to give the Rangers the then 4-3 lead.

Jesper Fast pulled the Rangers to within a goal with one of his own in the first, heading into intermission down 3-2.

Brady Skjei following in with Michael Grabner on a shorthanded chance in the second period was able to get a lucky deflection when Grabner's shot was stopped by Sharks goaltender Aaron Dell to put the Rnagers up 5-3 to end the second period.

In the third San Jose came out strong scoring in just under 3 minutes in to cut the lead 5-4. JT Miller who had been benched in Anaheim for the second and third periods gave the Rangers the much needed 6th goal for the game winner as San Jose would come back within the last minute to cut the lead 6-5. The Rangers held on in the final minute to snap their 3 game losing skid and head home to New York with two much needed points.
