RANGERS VS FLYERS POST GAME WRAP UP 1/16

NASH, RANGERS DOWN FLYERS 5-1
End Three Game Losing Skid

Although the Rangers didn't get the start to the game they wanted when the Flyers Jordan Weal tipped in the game's first goal just over two minutes into the first period, they certainly got the ending they were looking for.

Rick NAsh tallied his first goal of the game on a beautiful breakaway feed from Pavel Buchnevich to make it a 1-1 game just over four minutes after the Flyers opening tally. The Rangers would add two more goals in the first, a power play goal by J.T. Miller and a shorthanded breakaway by Paul Carey, assisted by newly recalled center Peter Holland.

The Rangers would continue their five unanswered goals in the second period with Michael Grabner's team leading 20th goal of the season and Rick Nash's second of the game to finish the game's scoring.

The Rangers played a smart defensive game in the third to hold onto the four goal lead and record their first regulation win in the last 10 games.

With the win tonight, Henrik Lundqvist became the first goalie in NHL history to win at least 20 games in each of his first 13 seasons. Lundqvist is also the first goalie to have 13 straight 20-win seasons at any point during an NHL career.
