RANGERS VS SABRES POST GAME WRAP UP 1/18

NASH & BUCHNEVICH PROPEL RANGERS PAST SABRES 4-3

 TALLY 3 POINTS EACH TO STAVE OFF SURGINNG SABRES

A back and forth battle between the Rangers and Sabres who met for the first time since the NHL's Annual Winter Classic culminated in another win for the Rangers.

Rick Nash who scored 2 goals against the Flyers on Tuesday opened the game's scoring on a breakaway feed from Pavel Buchnevich and put one past Robin Lehner to put the Ragers ahead 1-0. Buffalo would answer back late in the period to tie the game 1-1 when Kyle Okposo scored while on the power play with just under 2 minutes to go.

The Rangers once again opened the scoring in the second right after their power play ended, JT Miller tallied his 2nd goal in 2 games putting the Rangers ahead 2-1. Buffalo once again came back late in the period when Justin Falk tied the game 2-2.

The Rangers opened the third period with the forst goal and retook the lead 3-2 when Rick Nash tallied his 2nd of the game on a rebound shot from Nick Holden that Lehner had made the initial save on.  The Sabres would not be held back and Rasmus Ristolainen tallied the game tying goal 3-3. With just under 4 minutes remaining in regulation Pavel Buchnevich picked up a tally of his own to give the Rangers the lead for good 4-3.

Henrik Lundqvist stopped 34 of 37 shots backstopping the Rangers to their 24 win of the season putting them 2 points ahead of the idle Pittsburgh Penguins in the standings with 53 points.

The Rangers now head out west for a four game road trip through Colorado and California starting on Saturday.
