RANGERS VS ISLANDERS POST GAME WRAP UP 1/13

RANGERS BATTERED BY ISLANDERS 7-2

Four unanswered goals by the New York Islanders in the second period in under five minutes put this game out of reach for the Rangers today at the Garden. Ondrej Pavelec was chased out of the nets but by no fault of his own with sloppy play, untimely turnovers and odd man rushes hurting the team overall. The Rangers looked over matched against the last place Islanders.

The Islanders opened the scoring in the first period but Kevin Hayes on the power play and after some hard work picked up the tying goal for the Rangers but the Islanders answered back exactly two minutes later to retake the lead for good 2-1. 

Down 5-1 in the 3rd period and after back to back power plays the Rangers finally answered the Islanders 4 straight goals when Mika Zibanejad deflected in a shot by Mats Zuccarello to cut the lead 5-2 just past the halfway mark. But as the saying goes it was a little too little, a little too late. The Isles added 2 more goals before the period ended to take the win 7-2.
