NEW YORK RANGERS POST GAME WRAP UP: RANGERS vs PANTHERS 3.7.17

Lundqvist Picks Up Win 404 Defeats Panthers 5-2

The Rangers cashed in on their first when Chris Kreider deflected a shot by defenseman Steven Kampfer to take the lead 1-0. Tanner Glass slipped by the Florida defense unnoticed and was able to put one past James Reimer off a pass from Oscar Lindberg to extend the Rangers lead 2-0. Backstopped by tremendous goaltending by Henrik Lundqvist the Rangers were able to take the two goal lead into intermission.

The Rangers added to their lead just over four minutes into the second period when Brady Skjei fed Kevin Hayes on the breakaway and Hayes put one past Reimer on the backhand to make it 3-0. After the Rangers third failed power play of the night the Panthers cut the lead to 3-1 when Thomas Vanek scored his first with Florida. The Rangers answered back quickly when Nick Holden skated in from the point into the slot and fired a slapper past Reimer chasing him from the net in favor of Reto Berra. Lundqvist again made outstanding saves in the second as well to keep the Rangers in the lead.

Peppered early in the third Henrik Lundqvist stood tall keeping the Rangers in the lead allowing only one goal on a Panthers power play. Pavel Buchnevich added an empty net goal to round out the Rangers scoring.

With 42 Saves on the Night Henrik Lundqvist picked up career win number 404 and moved into sole possession of 10th Place on the All Time Wins List ahead of Grant Fuhr.

The Rangers power play was once again nill going 0-4 on the night and having only cashed in once in the last 39 attempts. Meanwhile the penalty kill denied 4 of 5 Florida attempts.

The Rangers are now 24-8-0 on the road and lead the NHL in road wins.

Rangers travel to Carolina taking on the Hurricanes for the third of the four road game road trip
