- THREE'S COMPANY
- The Rangers have tallied three or more goals in each of the last two
games, in seven of the last 10 games, and in 45 games this season. New
York ranks fourth in the NHL in games with three or more goals in
2016-17.
- Rick Nash tallied
the first goal of the game, recorded two shots on goal, and posted a
plus-two rating. Nash extended his goal/point streak to four games, and
his four-game goal streak is tied for the longest any Ranger has posted
in 2016-17 (Pavel Buchnevich - Nov. 5 - Nov. 12; Kevin Hayes - Nov. 1 - Nov. 6). He ranks third on the Rangers in goals this season (22).
- Derek Stepan registered
a goal and recorded three shots on goal in the contest. Stepan has
tallied a goal in each of the last two games, and he extended his point
streak to three games (two goals, one assist). He has recorded seven
points (three goals, four assists) in the last nine games.
- Brady Skjei recorded
a goal, tied for the team-high with four shots on goal, and was
credited with two blocked shots in 20:58 of ice time. Skjei, who
celebrated his 23rd birthday today, is the first Ranger who has tallied a
goal on his birthday in a regular season game since Derek Dorsett on
Dec. 20, 2013 against the Islanders (including playoffs, the last Ranger
to tally a goal on his birthday was Brad Richards in Game 1 of the
Second Round against Pittsburgh in 2014 - May 2, 2014). Skjei has
notched three points (two goals, one assist) in the last five games and
18 points (four goals, 14 assists) in the last 31 contests.
- Mika Zibanejad notched
two assists, won 11 of 19 faceoffs (57.9%), and registered two shots on
goal in the contest. He has posted a multi-assist/point game in each of
the last two contests (four assists over the span). In addition,
Zibanejad extended his assist/point streak to three games (five
assists), and he has tallied nine points (three goals, six assists) over
the last 11 games.
- Mats Zuccarello registered his 40th
assist of the season in tonight's contest, tying his career-high (he
also tallied 40 in 2013-14). He is one of five Rangers who have posted
at least two 40-assist seasons since 2005-06 (along with Jaromir Jagr,
Michael Nylander, Martin Straka, and Scott Gomez). Zuccarello extended
his point streak to three games (one goal, three assists), and he has
recorded a point in seven of the last eight games (three goals, six
assists over the span). Zuccarello has registered 27 points (seven
goals, 20 assists) in 27 games against Western Conference opponents this
season, including 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 13 games
against Pacific Division opponents in 2016-17.
- Chris Kreider recorded
an assist and tied for the team-high with four shots on goal. Kreider's
assist in the first period was his 50th point of the 2016-17 season,
and he has reached the 50-point plateau for the first time in his NHL
career. In addition to adding to his career-high in points, Kreider
registered his 24th assist of the 2016-17 season, and he is now one
assist away from tying his career-high (25; 2014-15).
- Jimmy Vesey notched
an assist, was credited with three hits, and posted a plus-one rating.
Vesey has posted a plus-one rating in each of the last five games
(plus-five rating over the span), and he has also recorded two points
(one goal, one assist) in the five games.
- Marc Staal recorded an assist and was credited with one blocked shot in 18:40 of ice time.
