NYR TODAY Thursday 3/16: Rangers Sign Gettinger, WC in 2018 at Citi Field, Today in Rangers History

RANGERS SIGN PROSPECT TIM GETTINGER

The Rangers have reportedly signed prospect Tim Gettinger to an entry level contract.

Gettinger was the Rangers 5th round pick last June and has 30 goals and 22 assists this season for Sault St. Marie.

He is 6-6, 220 and was ranked 9th by The Hockey News Future Watch that wrote, "Towering winger from Ohio is a good net-front presence. Having breakout season."


Rangers vs Sabres in Winter Classic? Possible at Citi Field

EJ Hradek of the NHL Network said on Don La Greca's podcast that he is hearing the Winter Classic next year will be played at Citi Field and that it will likely include the Rangers and possibly the Buffalo Sabres.

Hradek said that he wasn't reporting this as hard news but that he was hearing it would be Citi Field as the venue, feature the Rangers and possibly Buffalo as part of it being the 10th Anniversary of the first Winter Classic.

1998:  Mike Richter wins his 200th career game, making 38 saves in a 5-4 win over the Senators at MSG. Wayne Gretzky, Mike Keane and Niklas Sundstrom all have four points.
