Three Stars of the Week

Tim Gettinger, LW, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL) - Gettinger agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with the Rangers on Mar. 16. The Rangers' fifth round pick (141st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft also recorded two points (one goal, one assist), in three games last week. Gettinger recorded a point in nine of the final 12 games of the regular season, tallying 14 points (eight goals, six assists) over the span. Gettinger established OHL career-highs in games played (62), goals (31), assists (23), points (54), and plus/minus rating (plus-26) this season. Gettinger ranked third on the Greyhounds in goals and shots on goal (204), and ranked fourth in plus/minus rating in 2016-17. Sault Ste. Marie faces Flint in the first round of the OHL Playoffs.

Ryan Gropp, LW, Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) - Gropp tallied a point in all three games last week, registering four points (three goals, one assist) and a plus-two rating in the three contests. The Rangers' second round pick (41st overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft finished the 2016-17 regular season with a seven-game point streak (four goals, six assists over the span). In addition, Gropp recorded a point in 27 of the final 29 regular season games, tallying 54 points (24 goals, 30 assists) over the span. Gropp also recorded a point in 32 of the final 35 contests, registering 60 points (26 goals, 34 assists) in those 35 games. Gropp led Seattle in goals (35) and points (84), ranked second on the team in assists (49), and ranked fifth in plus/minus rating (plus-25) this season. In addition, he established WHL career-highs in goals, assists, points, and plus/minus rating in 2016-17. Seattle faces the Tri-City Americans in the first round of the WHL Playoffs.

Tyler Wall, G, UMass-Lowell River Hawks (NCAA) - Wall posted a 2-0 record, along with a 2.00 GAA and a .934 SV% to help UMass-Lowell win the Hockey East Tournament. The Rangers' sixth round pick (174th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft earned a win in each of his final four appearances in the tournament, posting a 1.78 GAA and a .935 SV% in those contests, and he was named to the Hockey East All-Tournament Team. In the final game of the tournament, Wall stopped 38 of 41 shots he faced to help UMass-Lowell defeat Boston College, 4-3. In 35 appearances this season, Wall has posted a 25-9-1 record, along with a 2.10 GAA, a .917 SV%, and 1 SO. He is tied for second in the NCAA - and leads all freshmen goaltenders - in wins this season.

Emerging from the Pack

Taylor Beck posted two multi-assist/point games last week, registering five points (one goal, four assists) in the two contests. Beck has posted a multi-point game in each of the last three contests (two goals, five assists over the span), and he has recorded nine points (three goals, six assists) in seven games with the Wolf Pack. He ranks second in the AHL in points (59) and is tied for second in the AHL in assists (43) this season.

Nicklas Jensen registered a goal on Mar. 17 at Hershey. He is tied for second in the AHL in goals this season (26), and he leads the Wolf Pack in goals, points (44), and shots on goal (177), in 2016-17.

Marek Hrivik tallied three assists/points in two games last week, and he extended his assist/point streak to three games (one goal, four assists over the span). Hrivik has registered 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) in 43 AHL games with the Wolf Pack this season, and he has tied his WHL career-high in goals in 2016-17.

Ryan Graves recorded three points (one goal, two assists) in two games last week, and he has registered four points (one goal, three assists) in the last four contests. The Rangers' fourth round pick (110th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft has established AHL career-highs in assists (21) and points (28) this season, and he ranks second among Hartford defensemen in goals (seven), assists, and points in 2016-17.

Sean Day, D, Windsor Spitfires (OHL) - Day registered an assist/point in two of three games last week. The Rangers' third round pick (81st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft finished the 2016-17 season with 37 points (15 goals, 22 assists) and a plus-15 rating in 63 OHL games, establishing OHL career-highs in goals, points, and plus/minus rating. Day tied for sixth among OHL defensemen in goals in 2016-17.

Ty Ronning, RW, Vancouver Giants (WHL) - Ronning registered one goal in four games last week to finish his 2016-17 WHL season. The Rangers' seventh round pick (201st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft led the Giants in goals (25) and points (53), and ranked third on the team in assists (28) this season. Ronning established WHL career-highs in games played (63) and game-winning goals (six), and tied his WHL career-high in assists in 2016-17.

Sergey Zborovskiy, D, Regina Pats (WHL) - Zborovskiy registered three points (one goal, two assists) and posted a plus-nine rating in four contests last week. The Rangers' third round pick (79th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft finished the 2016-17 regular season with 40 points (seven goals, 33 assists) and a plus-72 rating, and he established WHL career-highs in assists, points, and plus/minus rating this season. Zborovskiy led all players in the three Canadian Major Junior Hockey Leagues (OHL, QMJHL, and WHL) in plus/minus rating this season, and he is the first WHL player who posted a plus-72 rating or better in one season since Andrew Ference in 1997-98 (plus-75). Regina faces the Calgary Hitmen in the first round of the WHL Playoffs.
