RANGERS VS BLACKHAWKS POST GAME WRAP UP 11/15

RANGERS STREAK ENDS AT SIX WITH LOSS IN CHICAGO

Number seven just wasn’t in the cards for the Rangers tonight as they dropped one to the Blackhawks 6-3.

Artem Anisimov was the story for the Blackhawks scoring his first career hat trick against his former team.

The Rangers held a 1-0 lead on a goal by Mika Zibanejad until just under a minute left in the second period when DeBrincat skittled one through the legs of Henrik Lundqvist to tie the game 1-1.

In the third period, the wheels fell off and Chicago scored 3 more goals within a span of 5:14. Henrik Lundqvist was pulled from the game and replaced with Ondrej Pavelec.

It looked as though the Rangers were on the comeback trail when Nick Holden scored what looked to be the Rangers 2nd goal of the night. The goal was waived off as the referee lost sight of the puck. Although the puck had crossed the line before the whistle blew it was not a reviewable play by the rules and the call on the ice stood.

A few minutes later Kevin Hayes put one past Corey Crawford for the Rangers second goal. Rick Nash added a goal just before the halfway mark of the period to make it 4-3. But, that’s where the Rangers luck ended. Anisimov put one high over the glove side on Pavelec to make it 5-3 with the hat trick. Jonathan Toews added an empty net goal to end the night 6-3.

Henrik Lundqvist stopped 30 shots on goal and gave up 4 goals. Pavelec stopped 7 and gave up 2.

Rangers return to action on Friday in Columbus taking on the Blue Jackets.
