RANGERS VS PANTHERS GAME DAY PREVIEW 11/4

RANGERS FACE PANTHERS IN SUNRISE

New York Rangers (5-7-2) @ Florida Panthers (4-7-1)
Tonight 7:00 PM, TV: MSG, FSFL Radio: WEPN
BB&T Center Sunrise, Florida

Coming off their first solid 60 minutes played of the season in Tampa Bay on Thursday the Rangers will look to stay consistent once again tonight on the opposite side of the state as they take on the Panthers in Sunrise, Florida.

The 2-1 overtime win against the Lightning along with a 6-4 victory over the Golden Knights on Tuesday was the first time this season the Rangers have won two games in a row. Now looking for their 3rd and a Florida Road Trip sweep the Rangers take on the Panthers for the first of three games this season.

The Panthers have been struggling themselves winning only four of their first 12 games and losing their last three games in a row. Florida will still also be without starting goalie Roberto Luongo who remains on the IR with a thumb injury. Luongo has only played 4 games this season while backup James Reimer has taken the majority of the starts going 3-4-1 with a 4.00 GAA. Reimer has been pulled from the game in his last 2 starts.

Leading the Panthers in scoring is Evgenii Dadonov (6 goals, 14 points) and Aleksander Barkov (10 assists).

The Rangers Mika Zibanejad will look to extend his points streak to 6 games. Zibanejad leads the Rangers scoring lead with 8 goals and 14 points. Kevin Shattenkirk leads the team in assists with 9.

Henrik Lundqvist is again slated to get the start for the Rangers. He is 4-4-2 this season with a 3.00 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. Lundqvist picked up his 409th career win on Thursday vs Tampa and sits in 9th place on the NHL’s All Time Wins list behind Tony Esposito with 423.

The Rangers lineup has not yet been finalized for tonight as Alain Vigneault mentioned a possibility of forward Paul Carey getting back into the lineup possibly tonight. AV did mention David Desharnais in his comments where Carey was mentioned.

Steven Kampfer who was inserted into the Rangers lineup Thursday in place of healthy scratch Branden Smith played a hard nosed game against Tampa and missed practice yesterday in what was listed as a maintenance day by the Rangers.
