RANGERS VS BLUE JACKETS GAME DAY PREVIEW 11/17

RANGERS LOOK TO GET BACK ON TRACK AGAINST THE BLUE JACKETS

New York Rangers @ Columbus Blue Jackets
TONIGHT 7:00 PM TV: MSG+, NHLN, FSOH RADIO: WEPN 98.7
Nationwide Arena, Columbus, OH

The Rangers will be looking to get a fresh start after having their six game win streak snapped in Chicago on Wednesday. A miserable outing which saw the Rangers give up a last minute goal in the second period, 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the third and 6 overall needs to be forgotten and all focus should be on Tonight’s contest in Columbus.

In the third of four meetings between the teams this season of a split series, both teams have won on home ice, the Jackets 3-1 back in October and the Rangers 5-3 at the Garden just 11 days ago. The Rangers came back from a 2-1 deficit in the last game tallying 3 power play goals and an empty netter in the 3rd period rally. Mika Zibanejad ln the Rangers in points with 3 assists. The line of Zibanejad, Chris Kreider and Pavel Buchnevich picked up a total of 5 points on the night. Michael Grabner picked up 2 goals in the game.

Henrik Lundqvist 6-1-0 in his last 7 is slated to get the start. Lundqvist was pulled early in the third period after giving up 3 goals on 30 shots against the Blackhawks Wednesday.

It seems as though Brendan Smith will get a return after being a healthy scratch for the past 7 games. Smith skated with Marc Staal at practice on Thursday while Steven Kampfer who has been in the lineup in Smith’s slot skated with forward Paul Carey as the extras.

The rest of the lineup for the Rangers will remain the same.
