RANGERS END 2 GAME SKID WITH SHUTOUT AT THE GARDEN

A full 60 minute team win tonight for the New York Rangers over the Ottawa Senators by the score of 3-0.

After a scoreless first period which only saw 15 shots on goal combined, 9 by the Rangers and 7 by Ottawa.

The Rangers were able to take the lead when Kevin Hayes scored his 5th of the season to give the Rangers the 1-0 lead in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd period.

The Rangers were able to hold onto the lead for the rest of the game including a 5 minute power play for Ottawa when Rangers defenseman Brendan Smith was called for a question major for interference and got the subsequent game misconduct on a hit to Ottawa’s Borowiecki. Borowiecki wound up slamming into the bottom of the boards and left the game with help from trainers.

The Rangers added two more goals to Kevin Hayes’ game winner from Michael Grabner, his 9th on a deflection in front and Mika Zibanejad on a pinpoint shot into the Ottawa empty net.

Henrik Lundqvist picked up his 63rd career shutout while Mika Zibanejad upped his team leading goals and points to 10 and 20 respectively.

The Rangers return to action on Wednesday when they head South to Carolina to face the Hurricanes on Thanksgiving Eve.
