RANGERS GO FOR 9th STRAIGHT HOME WIN
New York Rangers (13-9-2) vs Florida Panthers (9-12-2)
TONIGHT 7:00 PM, TV: MSG, FSFL RADIO: WEPN 98.7
Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
The Rangers close out November against the Florida Panthers tonight. It is the second of three meetings this season and the only contest played at the Garden. The Rangers won the previous meeting in Florida on November 4th in a 5-4 overtime win. Kevin Shattenkirk tallied 2 goals in the Rangers win including the overtime winner.
The Rangers must look to not feed off their comeback win on Sunday against the Vancouver Canucks but once again look to put together a full 60 minutes of hockey. For all of the first period and all but 3 minutes of the second the Rangers were outplayed by the visitors, a sad trait that has plagued the team for most of the season.
Henrik Lundqvist who picked up the win in Sunday’s contest is expected to start his 15th straight game. Over the span Lundqvist has posted a record of 12-3 dating back to October 21st. On the season Lundqvist is 12-6-2 with a GAA of 2.63 and has a .013 SV %.
The Rangers did not hold practice on Monday so there is no update on the status of Captain Ryan McDonagh (strained abdomen) who has missed the previous 3 games nor is there an update on Boo Nieves (hip pointer).
Expect the Rangers lineup to remain the same s Sunday against Vancouver.
Florida is coming off a 3-2 Win over New Jersey last night in Newark which saw them out shoot the Devils 31-10 in the first two periods of the contest.
Tonight the Rangers hold their Hockey Fights Cancer Night. All Jerseys worn during pregame warmups will be auctioned off along with sticks and other items. Proceeds go to the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer Program. #HockeyFightsCancer
