RANGERS VS CANUCKS POST GAME WRAP UP 11/26

RANGERS MOUNT COMEBACK WIN IT IN SHOOTOUT 4-3

A rough 37 plus minutes of opening play for the Rangers. Looking as though they hadn’t heard the alarm clock sound for the afternoon matinee at the Garden turned into a 4-3 shootout win for the Blueshirts.

Down 2-0 with 2:40 left on the second period clock Jesper Fast redirected a shot by Brendan Smith to cut the lead to 2-1 in favor of the visiting Canucks.

A quick start to the third gave the Rangers the tie 2-2 when Michael Grabner sped into the Vancover end and put one past Jacob Markstrom just 19 seconds into the period. Unfortunately Vancouver responded with their third goal of the game to retake the lead 3-2 less than a minute later.

The Canucks lead held until with just over 5 minutes to play in regulation Kevin Hayes forced a turnover and headed out of the Rangers zone sending a pass to Rick Nash who fed Jimmy Vesey for the tying goal 3-3 and sending the game to overtime.

A fruitless 3 on 3 overtime for both teams sent the game to the shootout. Both the Rangers and Canucks were 0 for 1 on the season heading in. It took until the 7th round to decide the outcome when Jimmy Vesey once again put one past Markstrom for the win.

Henrik Lundqvist who had trouble early on in the game with bad bounces picked up the win stopping 29 of 32 shots on goal.
