RANGERS VS AVALANCHE POST GAME WRAP UP 10/5

RANGERS DROP SEASON OPENER 4-2

Despite two Power Play Goals by Mika Zibanejad and 39 shots on goal the Rangers could not overcome the goaltending of Colorado's Varlamov.

The lackluster first half of the first period spelled the doom for the Rangers as they were down 2-0 by 10:53 of the Period.

Kevin Shattenkirk played a solid game in his Rangers debut after getting beat by Matt Duchene on the game's first goal. Seemed as though his first home game jitters ceased after the flub.

The Rangers Star of the Game was Mika Zibnejad who did collect the 2nd star of the game honors. With the 2 power play goals and numerous scoring chances he definetly stood out among the Blueshirts. Zibanejad also won 73% of his faceoffs tonight.
