WOLF PACK WEEKLY

Hartford Wolf Pack Weekly Report

by Alex Pflaum

Entering this week the Wolf Pack are currently in 5th place in the AHL's Atlantic Division having lost their last 3 Games in a row. The Pack along with the parent club NY Rangers also made a trade with the Grand Rapids Griffins the AHL farm team of the Detroit Red Wings sending Matt Puempel to
Grand Rapids in exchange for Defenseman Ryan Sproul.
Game Recaps 10/20/17 - 10/22/17 -
10/20/17 vs Belleville Senators (Ottawa) at XL Center -
The Wolf Pack opened up their 3rd weekend of the
2017 - 2018 AHL season at the XL Center in Hartford welcoming one of the AHL's newest teams the Belleville Senators. Hartford had entered the contest on a 2 Game Winning streak coming off wins vs the Toronto Marlies and Springfield Thunderbirds the previous weekend and were entering this past weekend in 2nd Place in the AHL's Atlantic Division. Despite outshooting the Senators by a final count of 35 to 28 the Wolf Pack saw their 2 Game winning streak snapped as the Senators skated out of the XL Center with a convincing 5 to 1 victory. The Pack's only Goal of the Game came from #10 Cole Schneider his 3rd of the season and Pack  Goaltender Chris Nell stopped only 23 out of 28 shots in the contest.
10/21/17 at WBS Penguins (PIT) at Mohegan Sun Arena -
Following the bitter loss against Belleville, the Wolf Pack traveled to the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza to take on the AHL's Best Regular Season team from a year ago the W-B/Scranton Penguins. Unlike the previous night where Hartford fell behind the eight ball early the Pack came storming out of the gate in the 1st Period behind 2 Power Play Goals from #17 Scott Kosmachuk his 1st and #95 Vinnie Latteri his 2nd of the season. It looked like it would be an easy night for the Wolf Pack but the Penguins would go on the score 2 unanswered Goals 1 late in the 1st Period then another later in the 2nd and come from behind to defeat Hartford in a Shootout by a Final Score of 3 to 2.
10/22/17 at Bridgeport Sound Tigers (NYI) at WBA -
Following tough back to back losses the Wolf Pack traveled back up I-95 for their 1st match up of the season with their hated in state rivals the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Hartford was looking to get back on track following back to back defeats but the Tigers would say otherwise. The Wolf Pack got off to their worst start of the young season by allowing 3 goals in the opening period and Bridgeport would cruise to a 6 to 3 victory over Hartford. The Wolf Pack's 3 goals would be scored by #14 Brandon Crawley his 1st, #7 Adam Tambellini his 4th, and by #59 Vince Pedrie his 1st.
The Week Ahead 10/24/17 - 10/29/17:
10/27/17 vs Bridgeport Sound Tigers at XL Center 7:15 pm
10/28/17 at Lehigh Valley Phantoms at PPL Center 7;05 pm
and
10/29/17 at Hershey Bears at Giant Center 5:00 pm
This is the 1st Bump in the Road that the Wolf Pack have hit this season. Hopefully it won't last too long and they will be able to get out of it soon and get back on the Winning Track.
