Tonight 7:00 PM. TV: MSG, Radio: WEPN 98.7
Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Looking to finally gain some resemblance of continuity the Rangers face the winless Arizona Coyotes in the final game of a 6 game homestand. This is the first meeting of two between the teams, the next meeting coming in January at Arizona.
The Rangers leading point getters Mika Zibanejad (6 goals) and J.T. Miller (6 assists, 8 points) face off against the Coyote leaders Clayton Keller (6 goals, 10 points) and Max Domi (6 assists).
Ondrej Pavelec (0-2-0, 3.75 GAA, .860 SV%) get the start in net for the Rangers while Arizona will start Louis Domingue (0-5-1, 4.36 GAA, .858 SV%)
Tonight marks the return of Derek Stepan (2 goals, 5 assists) and serving as the Coyotes backup, Antti Raanta (0-1-0 in 3 starts, 3.33 GAA, .911 SV%) since this summer’s trade for Anthony DeAngelo and the Number 7 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Boo Nieves, called up from Hartford on Tuesday will make his 2017-2018 debut centering the fourth line for the Rangers between Michael Grabner and Pavel Buchnevich.
Having made some changes on Monday with the demotion of defenseman Tony DeAngelo and Adam Cracknell who was placed on waivers along with the callup of Nieves, the Rangers will be going with the traditional 12 forwards and 6 defensemen rather than the 7 defensemen Alain Vigneault has gone with the last 2 games.
