RANGERS BACK HOME LOOKING FOR FIRST WIN
New York Rangers (0-2-0) vs Montreal Canadiens (1-1-0)
Tonight 7:00 PM TV: MSG+ RADIO: WEPN
Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York
In their second of back to back games this weekend the Rangers look to pick up their first win of the season against Original 6 Rival Montreal Canadiens.
The first of three meetings this season between the teams and the only game at Madison Square Garden the Rangers are in a must win scenario. Both teams are coming off losses Saturday night,
The Rangers on the losing end of a 8-5 loss in Toronto while Montreal sustained an equal drubbing 6-1 in Washington.
The lineup for New York would seem to be up in the air for tonight’s contest as Ondrej Pavelec who is slated as the starter tonight had to come in relief of Henrik Lundqvist who was shelled for 5 goals on his first 17 shots. Pavelec played both the second and third periods stopping all but 3 of the 27 shots he faced. Whether Alain Vigneault goes with Pavelec in back to back games is unknown.
Vigneault also changed up his original lineup to start the second period, shuffling lines and changing up the defense pairings. Whether he goes back to the lineup seen at the start of both the Toronto and Colorado games will have to wait until we see what lines and pairs roll at morning practice.
