RANGERS VS GOLDEN KNIGHTS GAME DAY PREVIEW 10/31

RANGERS LOOK TO END OCTOBER ON HIGH NOTE

New York Rangers (3-7-2) vs Vegas Golden Knights (8-2-0)
TONIGHT 7:00 PM, TV: MSG Radio: WEPN 98.7
Madison Square Garden, New York, NY

Tonight the Rangers face the upstart Vegas Golden Knights for the first time in their first NHL season. And will be facing an old friend, center Oscar Lindberg who was picked by Vegas from the Rangers unprotected list during this past summer’s expansion draft. Lindberg has tallied 4 goals in 10 games with a plus 3 rating and has been said to be a major reason why Vegas has had such a strong start in their inaugural season.

New York is coming off a disappointing outing on Saturday where they allowed 3 goals in the first period where they just fell short in a 5-4 loss in Montreal to the Canadiens.

Vegas is playing the second of back to back games, losing their 2nd game of the season last night in Brooklyn to the New York Islanders 6-3.

Amid rumors of Head Coach Alain Vigneault’s tenure being on the line dependant on tonight’s outcome along with questions of why major members of the Rangers front office were scouting the Canadiens vs Senators game last night in Ottawa sparked speculation of a possible blockbuster trade between the Rangers and Habs, seemingly making the direction of New York’s season coming down to tonight’s final tally.

Henrik Lundqvist will get the nod in net for the Rangers tonight after sitting the two previous games in favor of backup Ondrej Pavelec. Lundqvist and Benoit Allaire have said to have worked on a few issues and Lundqvist says he is ready to perform at a higher level. The rest of the Rangers lineup has yet to be announced but should be the same as the last two outings.

Vegas led by leading points getter James Neal (7 goals, 10 points) and Brad Hunt (7 assists) face off against Rangers Mika Zibanejad (7 goals, 10 points) and J.T. Miller (8 assists).
