Kevin Shattenkirk and the Rangers face off against his former team tonight for the first time since signing with the Rangers on July 1st. New York will be looking to hand the 3-0 Blues their first loss of the season while picking up their second win of the campaign.
Team leaders Mika Zibanejad, 4 goals and Mats Zuccarello, 4 assists & 5 points will be facing St Louis’ leaders Alex Pietrangelo, 2 goals, 4 points and Vladimir Sobotka 3 assists.
While lineups have not yet been announced Henrik Lundqvist is expected to get the start for the Rangers against Jake Allen. Lundqvist is coming off a 34 save shutout on Sunday versus Montreal. Lundqvist is 1-1 on the season with a 3.48 GAA & a .895 save percentage. Allen is 3-0 with a 2.38 GAA & a .916 save percentage.
The Rangers did not hold a formal practice yesterday so there is no word on if rookie Filip Chytil or defenseman Brendan Smith will return to the lineup or if Alain Vigneault will once again roll with 7 defenseman as he did in the win vs Montreal inserting Steven Kampfer and Nick Holden while relegating defenseman Tony DeAngelo to limited game time.
Yesterday The Rangers claimed center/wing Adam Cracknell off waivers from the Dallas Stars. Cracknell played under Rangers Assistant Coach, then Head Coach of the Stars Lindy Ruff.
